Galerija Fotografija was founded in 2004 by Barbara Čeferin, with the intention of popularising quality photography and bringing it closer to the wider Slovene public.

The gallery aims to popularize high-quality photography of emerging and established Slovene and international artists. Alongside up to eight annual exhibitions, we also organize lectures, workshops, round tables and project presentations. The gallery entered the international art market in 2009, participating at the Vienna art fair, and continuing at Paris Photo, MIA, ArtParis, London Art Fair, Photo Basel, Photo London, Viennacontemporary, and now The Photography Show.

As the first, and after 20 years still the only, private gallery in Slovenia dedicated to classic and contemporary photography, Galerija Fotografija seeks to explore the nuances of photography and its many intersections with other artistic mediums. It tries to include both established as well as emerging artists, showing works that span from the classic to the contemporary. With all of the above, Galerija Fotografija is fulfilling its mission: to help develop the market and sell the works of emerging and established artists, Slovene and international, in the field of photography and showcase some of our best talent at home and abroad.
